The organon developed slowly out of Hahnemann's research & experimentation over a period of time. It underwent as many as six editions. Although the sixth edition was ready for print way back in 1842, it could not be published owing to the death of it's author & was kept in person by the latter's wife for a long time & handed over to his favourite disciple until 1921, when Drs. William Boericke & James William Ward paid $1,000 to purchase it from the Boenninghausen family.This new & improved edition incorporates the latest of findings of Dr. Hahnemann during his dying years & deemed to be the most perfect of all. Many newer concepts viz. replacement of the vital force by vital principle, the 50th millisimal scale of potency & permissibility of external applications were introduced for the first time, that were unheard of in the other editions. The work is a result of the untiring effects of the master to improve & update his work & is of historical importance as far as medical philosophy is concerned. It is the high water mark of medical philosophy, the practical interpretition of which produces a veritable mountain of light & guides the physician by means of the law of cure to a new world in therapeutics.
